From April 10 to 13, 2024, the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé hosted the 32nd edition of the Congress of the Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of Cameroon (SOGOC), under the theme "Obstetrics and Gynecology in Sub-Saharan Africa: between tradition and modernity".
The opening ceremony, chaired by Prof. Louis Richard NJOCK, brought together the highest health authorities of the country. The event was held under the joint patronage of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSANTE) and the Ministry of Women's Promotion and the Family (MINPROFF).
Over four days, experts from Benin, Burkina Faso and Cameroon shared their work on gynecological oncology, maternal health, perinatology and surgical innovation. The hands-on workshops on obstetric ultrasound, laparoscopy and obstetric emergency management were particularly popular among residents and young practitioners.
In his closing speech, SOGOC President Prof. Emile Télesphore MBOUDOU underlined the need to accelerate the modernization of clinical practice while preserving the African rootedness of care.
This 32nd edition confirmed SOGOC's central role in the regional scientific landscape. See you at the 33rd edition, now in preparation.
