From November 25 to December 10, 2025, SOGOC was strongly mobilized as part of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence. This year, the focus was on a major public health issue: access to medicalized abortion and post-abortion care (PAC) in Cameroon.
Maternal mortality linked to unsafe abortions remains a painful reality in many regions of the country. For SOGOC, advocating for safe, woman-centred and dignified care is a fundamental public health mission, fully within the Cameroonian legal framework.
Press conferences, round tables, media outreach and targeted training sessions filled these two weeks. The society reminded that health professionals play a key role in reducing preventable mortality and supporting every woman with ethics and humanity.
This advocacy is part of the ongoing ACAC project (Collective Action for Woman-Centred Abortion Care), coordinated by SOGOC alongside ACMS, RENATA, CAMNAFAW, ACAFEJ, ASFAC and NOLFOWOP.
